Principal’s Message

Welcome to the École Armstrong Elementary Learning Community!

WELCOME BACK!

Dear École Armstrong Elementary School Families,

I trust you made the best of the summer that you could have and that you were able to enjoy our amazing city in the glorious sunshine. Even though school will look and feel different the staff and I are excited to open our school doors and welcome back our students and families for this 2020/2021 school year.

The first full day of school will be Monday September 14, 2020. September 10th and 11th students will return for orientation. I feel privileged and look forward to, once again, serving the Armstrong students and their families, staff and community. Our school has a rich and deep tradition of respect, care and commitment to learning.

I strongly believe that our Armstrong Staff are extremely fortunate and blessed to be in a profession of service to others. The vocation of teaching and caring for students in our public education is, filled with endless moments of sharing in a child’s wonder, amazement and excitement around learning as well as the understanding and knowledge that she/he is cared for deeply and will be treated with the respect, dignity and care she/he deserves and is entitled to.

Each student will be afforded the opportunity to learn according to her/his individual and unique learning style; the knowledge that they are always the ‘lens’ through which we make all of our decisions; that they are secure in the knowledge that every adult who works at Armstrong models those virtues and values we expect from our students; and, most importantly, the knowledge that every single adult at Armstrong BELIEVES in every single student and her/his potential to be a LEADER.

We are very excited about continuing to focus on our School Plan for Learning. Our school-wide goals will continue to focus on writing and Social Emotional Learning.  Whether new or returning, the common thread for each and every child who walks through our doors is the desire and excitement to learn, to hope, to experience new possibilities, to accomplish new things, to make new friends, to be respected, to feel safe and welcomed – to dream!

Together as a community we make a difference. The impact we all have on all our students is profound. Our individual and collective actions and words have the power to lift spirits and inspire a child to feel she or he matters and is important in this world.

On behalf of our entire staff, I would like to thank you all for your commitment, support and trust in our staff and school community.

I look forward to the journey ahead of us that is the 2020/2021 school year!

I wish you all a healthy, joyful, fulfilling and successful school year!

Sincerely,
Mr. F. De Vita
